New Selection Screen for HKO Servers (UPDATE)

[Updated Patch Schedule] On Thursday, July 29, 2010, at 00:00 EST (12:00 GMT+8), HKO will go off-line for about 4 hours for an update that will allow you to access multiple regions using one game client!

Your game client will automatically update itself when you run it, so you don’t have to do anything. If you haven’t installed the game yet, please head over to our download page and get our new 140MB unified playable installer.

Because the new game client lets you access servers that were previously separated, we had to make some adjustments. The most important thing to remember is that HKO now has Servers based on your preferred region, and on each Server there are Worlds. Your character is restricted to a single server, but can access all the worlds on that server. Play wherever suits you best!

New installer and new zone: the Dream Carnival

We’ve been very busy here at Sanrio Digital the last few months and now we can finally reveal why. We’ve just introduced a new 140 MB installer with exciting new content for players to enjoy while they download Hello Kitty Online! That’s right: you can now download HKO and play at the same time!

The Dream Carnival is a brand new starting zone with its own story, quests, items, mini-games and features. In the Dream Carnival you will meet some of your favorite Sanrio characters and familiarize yourself with the basics of HKO while interacting with other players.

Even better, playing through the Dream carnival can earn your character a lot of goodies: when you leave the Dream Carnival you will be receive rewards based on your achievements in one of the final quests in the area.

While you explore the Dream Carnival, our nifty client will download the full HKO game in the background!

There are a few limitations:

This is a newbie zone and can only be accessed by new characters. Once you decide to leave the Dream Carnival, you cannot come back. Also, you cannot carry items and money out of the Dream Carnival (you can, however, receive various goods for your new character depending on how well you did in the Dream Carnival).

How to get to the Dream Carnival

New players just need to download and install our new 140 MB installer then log in using their SanrioTown login details. That’s it!

Players who already have HKO installed can access the Dream Carnival by updating their game clients to version 1.9.0.0.0. Launch HKO as usual, and click the “Get Patch” button when you come to the window size selection screen.

Then simply start a new character and enter the game. If you don’t want to delete your existing character to make a new one, you can simply register a new SanrioTown account.

Please note that this product is still in beta and is not yet available for North America, Brazil, Thailand and the Philippines - but it’s coming soon!
